Help Hugh Pay His Bills!

November 2008 - I am sure everybody knows the US is in a recession of some sort right now and the housing market is in a serious slump. Well, I personally am trying to do my part to help the economy by, yes, buying a "new" house! The problem is that we plan on keeping and living in our previous house until early 2009, and fix up the very nice but somewhat antiquated house where we have signed a sales contract in late April. We had the necessary down payment and the credit scores to get a loan at the time, but our household has indeed experienced a slight "cash flow" bind which will probably continue until we sell our current house next Spring. When we bought the house in the Spring 2008, we thought that 1) the market for selling our previous house would be better in Spring 2009, and that 2) we could always sell more of our stock for more money to fix up the other house and keep us going. However, like everybody else, our portfolio has taken a huge hit in the last few months so I do not particularly want to sell anything right now!

So now I am putting up this page as an experiment to see if anybody is willing to send me any funds to help me get through the temporary cash bind until we sell the first house next year, or if I will be forced to sell off more of my assets at depleted values to modernize our future home and pay the monthly bills. Hey, I am going to be helping out the hardware and paint stores in the St. Louis area as well as local contractors (who definitely need the work right now) to take a very well built, 50+ year old home and save it from just being another "teardown", but instead update it be a worthy home for a modern family. It is in a great location in a fabulous school district, it just needs some serious updating. My wife and I have already ripped out the outdated carpeting and wallpaper ourselves and done much of the work (okay, I'll admit that my wife did most of it!), but we have and will outsource much of the trickier stuff (concrete work, refinishing wood floors, brick work, hanging cabinets, some plumbing, electrical) to talented local tradespeople.

Any personal contributions people make to me are NOT tax deductible as I am not a tax-exempt organization, just a working guy trying to raise a family. You can either
using the PayPal button or just send me a check or money order or whatever. Or you can click here and I will e-mail you my mailing address. I'm just curious if any of the many folks out there who have always thanked me profusely for my site will send me anything. Thanks for listening, and I await any responses I may receive.
